For many, just the sight of sparkling Pacific seas out the car window may be scenic drive enough, and while a traveler could spend many happy hours steering the length of the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway, there is also a short 41-mile detour worth taking between Bandon and Charleston (just southwest of Coos Bay) good for a glimpse of whales in season, the appropriately named Charleston to Bandon Tour Route.
