Crater Lake National Park - Fishing
Fishing is allowed May 20 through Oct 31 within the boundaries of Crater Lake National Park, and no fishing license is required within the park. Eastern brook (now common) and rainbow trout (now few) were planted in park streams, and bull trout are native and common; though rare, German brown trout have also been documented. Around the turn of the century, a regular lake-stocking program was also begun; no fish were known to inhabit the lake before the program. Stocking ended in 1941, at which time two of the four stocked species had survived and become naturalized: rainbow trout and kokanee salmon. The lake can be fished year-round except when seasonal limitations prevent safe access. The only access to the lake is by the Cleetwood Trail. Cleetwood Cove provides about 1/4 mile of rocky shoreline for angling. Wizard Island is also open while boat tours are running.
